As my re-election campaign hums along, I just want to take a moment to thank everyone who has taken a sign, made a donation or stopped to chat with me while walking through our villages. I am gratified at the support and encouragement I am receiving and it means a great deal.
Election campaigns are not for the faint-hearted. They involve organization, on the ground help and support and sometimes, exhausting schedules of walking, responding to emails and phone calls and making contact with many organizations and individuals. Commitment is key and so is getting sufficient rest and spending some periodic down time with family and friends.
But the election campaign experience can be one of the most meaningful experiences a candidate will ever have and like anything else worth doing, the more you invest in time and energy, the greater the rewards. Whatever the outcome, at the end of an election campaign, you will have learned so much more about your community and what matters to all the wonderful people who make a community strong and vibrant.
