A Busy Month as Acting Mayor

As Acting Mayor for the month of July, it’s shaping up to be a busy month.  Events and activities scheduled to date are:

  • July 15th, Aboriginal Territory Ceremony at the University of Victoria, sponsored by the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business, celebrating the Northwest Canadian Aboriginal Management Program
  • July 21st, Afghanistan Memorial Vigil, Rotunda, Legislative Buildings, hosted by Rear Admiral Bill Truelove, Royal Canadian Navy
  • July 26th, Windsor Park, officiating at the Annual Jaguar Car Show and choosing the Mayor’s choice of Jaguar that I would most want to drive home (I am an old car buff, having owned two MGs and a TR6 so this will be great fun for me)

There are two other events that many of us will attend, one with the Oak Bay Lawn Bowling Club on July 11th and a table tennis tournament at Monterey Centre on July 17th.  Summer is a great time to celebrate community events and I am happy to represent our community.

Note:  The summer schedule for Council and Committee of the Whole meetings for the month of July are July 14th and July 21st.
