Pre-Christmas Glimpses

  • OAK BAY BEACH HOTEL OPENS TO FANFARE

After waiting for six years, hundreds of people crowded into the hotel square in front of the new Oak Bay Beach Hotel to share in the grand opening of this Oak Bay icon.  Dignitaries, special guests and members of the public listened to speeches and comments as the Oak Bay High School Band played on.  Following the ribbon-cutting, the hotel threw open its doors for tours and other celebratory activities.  Owners Kevin and Shawna Walker and their staff provided a warm welcome to everyone who filed through the main doors.  Congratulations to the Oak Bay Beach Hotel!

  • BIG RIGS LIGHT UP THE NIGHT

It was another successful lighted truck parade as the big rigs rolled through Oak Bay and down the Avenue to celebrate Christmas coming.  They are an impressive sight and make pre-Christmas fun in Oak Bay worth supporting.  Despite the rain, the Avenue was lined with enthusiastic onlookers.  Thanks to the BIA who help bring us the Avenue Light-Up and the truck parade, two of the biggest Christmas season events locally and in the region.
