I am especially pleased to announce that the first Neighbourhood Meeting hosted by Oak Bay Council is scheduled for Thursday, November 22, 2012, 7:00 PM in the Garry Oak Room, Monterey Centre. This meeting is open to everyone and we invite you to attend and talk about items that interest or concern you, in an open and informal setting.
The concept of Neighbourhood Meetings is a successful model I brought to Oak Bay from my former community and I have advocated for some months to introduce them here in Oak Bay. My hope is that this is the first in a series of future Neighbourhood Meetings that provides opportunities to sit down with Council members and share what is important to you, to your neighbourhood and to our community.
I would like to thank Council colleagues and staff for their support in bringing this idea of Neighbourhood Meetings to fruition.
Designed as an informal dialogue, Council and residents together listen, share and learn more about our community, to better inform decisions and to promote mutual understanding. Please watch for notices of this meeting on the municipal website, in the Oak Bay News and on notice boards in various locations around the municipality. Please bring a family member, friend or neighbour to the meeting and I look forward to seeing you there.
