The OCP Review Committee had its first formal meeting on Thursday September 6 at 7:00 PM. In addition to Committee members, members of the public attended to observe and the Mayor was on hand to welcome the Committee and talk briefly about the significance of the OCP project.
Throughout the meeting, Committee members emphasized the importance of communication, both internal and external, reinforcing the need to get information to the public that is timely, complete and accurate. To that end, staff have been asked to create on the Municipal website one location for all information related to the work of this Committee.
This will provide “one-stop” easy online access for the public. Hard copy information will also be available at the Hall, at Rec centres and at Oak Bay High School. There are also plans under consideration to expand distribution to include other community stakeholder groups such as UVic and community and neighbourhood associations.
Process notes for every meeting will be recorded and posted so please visit the Municipal website for notes of the August 24 introductory meeting.
Scheduled dates to the end of the year for Committee meetings are as follows, with all meetings starting at 7:00 PM, in Municipal Hall Council Chambers, unless otherwise noted:
- September 20
- October 4 and 18
- November 8 and 22
- December 6
The public is always welcome to attend these meetings. In the meantime, if you would like additional information about Official Community Plans and the legislation that governs them, please visit:
