I received a Block Watch alert this morning via e-mail related to a number of local house break-ins in the last week in and around north and south Oak Bay. The suspect is described as a thin, gaunt white male about 5′ 9″, between 30 and 40 years old, with beard stubble and short dark hair, wearing a royal blue puffy jacket and carrying a back-pack. Police report that he may be lurking in neighbourhoods and watching homeowners leaving their properties. He employs the “knock and talk” method, meaning that if he knocks and no one answers, he makes a forced entry. He has also been seen fleeing from one property on a newer bicycle.
