I spent my first day today main-streeting on Oak Bay Avenue near Pharmasave. I am grateful to all the Oak Bay residents who took the time to stop and chat and take a campaign brochure.
There seemed to be a common theme to what I heard today and it was about the need for better communication between Council and Oak Bay residents. Many residents tell me that they want to know more about what their local government is doing and they want more timely information before decisions are made.
I am glad to learn that communication seems to be a key issue in this election campaign because, at the heart of my Council work and my campaign is my belief that open communication is fundamental to good government — timely, consistent information-sharing between local government and the people it serves is absolutely necessary to responsible and accountable decision-making.
I will be on Oak Bay and Estevan Avenues in the coming weeks so please look for me and stop to say hello and, please take one of my brochures. And for those of you with a smart phone, don’t forget to look on the back of my brochure for the black and white QR code. Scan it with your phone and it will take you directly to my website. The website address is also in the brochure for easy reference.
